Well, I don't know if this will be of much interest to anyone, but I find myself think a great deal about the meaning of "progressive" education in the 21st century and what it means--and whether the term has been so ravaged by Ravitch and others that it just smells like "easy and permissive" rather than something substantial. I'm trying to help move our own school toward loftier planes, and for a while "progressive" has seemed like a very useful way for us to talk about ourselves. We've come up with our own definition and all, but it seems labored and not that easy to communicate.

Then there's the whole matter of school policies and practices. How do we actually implement this "progressive" stuff, and what does it look like?
